A new campaign is being launched this week to raise awareness of advertising regulation in the UK, with new images which will be seen in newspapers, magazines and in outdoor sites.
Recent figures from Deloitte estimated that companies spend some £16bn every year across the UK on advertising which from the business it generates ads approximately £100bn to the UK’s GDP.
Yet trust in advertising has traditionally been low, with one 2010 study putting public trust in advertising messages at only a fifth.
So it’s important for the public to understand that behind the adverts they see is an extensive and robust system of regulation under the Advertising Standards Authority, which has organised the awareness campaign.
